What are Solaris Auger-Torque Screw-Pile Torque Heads?
Solaris Auger-Torque Screw-pile torque head auger systems are specialized tools used in construction and engineering for the installation of screw piles, also known as helical piles or screw anchors. These systems play a crucial role in various industries, from building foundations to securing structures in challenging soil conditions. Let’s explore the components, working principles, and applications of Solaris Auger-Torque screw-pile torque head auger systems.
Components of Solaris Auger-Torque Screw-Pile Torque Head Auger Systems:
- Auger Shaft: The auger shaft is a helical or spiral-shaped metal rod that serves as the central component of the system. It is responsible for digging into the ground and creating a hole for the screw pile to be installed.
- Torque Head: The torque head is the mechanism that connects to the auger shaft and provides the necessary rotational force to drive the screw pile into the ground. It is powered by hydraulic motors or other sources of mechanical power.
- Hydraulic Power Source: Most screw-pile torque head auger systems are powered by hydraulic systems, which provide the high torque required for driving screw piles into the ground. Hydraulic fluid is pressurized and directed to the motors in the torque head to generate the necessary rotation.
- Control Panel: A control panel allows operators to adjust the speed and torque of the torque head, ensuring precise installation of screw piles. It also includes safety features and emergency stop controls.
- Attachment Coupling: This component connects the torque head to the auger shaft securely, allowing for the transfer of torque from the power source to the auger.
Working Principles:
The operation of the Solaris Auger-Torque screw-pile torque head auger system involves several key steps:
- Positioning: The auger system is positioned at the desired installation location, typically by a crane or an excavator.
- Engagement: The auger shaft with the torque head is lowered into the ground at the chosen location. The helical blades of the auger cut into the soil as the system rotates.
- Rotation: The hydraulic motors in the torque head receive pressurized hydraulic fluid, causing the torque head to rotate. This rotational force is transferred to the auger shaft, driving it further into the ground.
- Installation Depth: The depth of installation is monitored and controlled by the operator through the control panel. The auger continues to penetrate the soil until the desired depth is reached.
- Screw Pile Insertion: Once the desired depth is achieved, the auger system is removed, leaving the screw pile securely in place. The screw pile’s helical design provides excellent stability and load-bearing capacity.
Applications of Solaris Auger-Torque Screw-Pile Torque Head Auger Systems:
Screw-pile torque head auger systems find extensive use in various applications, including:
- Foundation Construction: Screw piles are commonly used for building foundations, especially in areas with unstable or expansive soil conditions. The torque head auger system ensures precise and efficient installation, reducing the risk of settlement issues.
- Solar Panel Installations: Screw piles are an ideal choice for anchoring solar panels in solar farms. The quick and accurate installation process minimizes project timelines.
- Boardwalks and Decks: Screw piles provide a stable foundation for boardwalks, decks, and waterfront structures. The torque head auger system enables installations in environmentally sensitive areas.
- Utility Pole Support: Screw piles are used to anchor utility poles, ensuring their stability in various soil types, and preventing leaning or toppling.
- Temporary Structures: These systems are employed for securing temporary structures such as tents, signs, and event stages, offering a reliable and removable foundation option.
In conclusion, Solaris Auger-Torque screw-pile torque head auger systems are essential tools for efficiently and accurately installing screw piles in a wide range of applications. Their versatility, precision, and load-bearing capacity make them a valuable asset in construction and engineering projects, particularly in challenging soil conditions where traditional foundation methods may be impractical or costly.
150MM HEX SHAFT
The driveshaft is crucial for the reliability and it goes without saying that the bigger the better applies here. A shaft is always stronger when machined as a hex and the 150mm diameter is the largest in the industry, especially when looking at compatibility on machines as small as 21T.
AXIAL PISTON MOTOR
Axial Piston Motors allow us to run a single-speed motor. By using an axial piston motor with our drive we can have a high-speed motor but still, achieve high torques through gearbox multiplication. At maximum flow, we achieve 15 rpm.
SINGLE PIECE NON-DISLODGEMENT SHAFT
As standard with all of our auger & screw pile drives, our patented single-piece non-dislodgement shaft is of course a standard feature. We are so confident in this must-have safety feature that we are covering it with a lifetime warranty.
EPICYCLIC GEARBOX
Torque is amplified by using the unique Solaris-Auger Torque planetary gearbox. This system allows the motor’s output torque to be multiplied with extreme efficiency as well as ensuring the durability and reliability you need.
All Solaris-Auger Torque attachments and equipment are warranted to be free from material, mechanical, or workmanship defects for a certain time (summarized below).
Planetary Gearbox: 72 months
Hydraulic Motors: 36 months
Other Parts and Products: 24 months
Note: The warranty is only valid if the product is attached, assembled, and used appropriately, according to the directions provided in the operator’s manuals and other instructions. The warranty period will start from the date of sale by the distributor or manufacturer.
